[Press Release]

igloohome and District 6, a co-working space located at Odeon Towers, Singapore, will be holding the first  property tech hackathon in South-East Asia on 4-6 August 2017.

The hackathon, named Hood Disrupt, will bring together entrepreneurs, developers and designers keen to revolutionize the property sector - ie. Disrupt the neighbourHood - through technology. Themes explored during the event include property financing and management, mortgage loans, architecture and construction, smart living and the shared economy, and anything related to property tech.

Each participant will receive $100 worth of AWS Cloud credits over the 3-day hackathon to build their solution. Each team will also be assigned mentors from igloohome and partners to guide them as they work on their products, services and business ideas. igloohome APIs and AWS IoT buttons will also be provided for developers to work with, should the participating teams wish to build on existing software and hardware to develop new solutions.

Judges of the hackathon include management from igloohome and the leading real estate firms in Singapore and their venture arms - JLL, C31 Ventures, CDL and others. Participating teams will have the opportunity to pitch their proposals to the judges, and potentially get connected with them should they have interest in pursuing the business ideas further.

Attractive prizes are prepared for the winners from the sponsors JLL, AWS, DreamIt and District 6. These include cash prizes of more than SGD$5000, tickets to the Urban Summit global conference in the USA, co-working space packages and more.

Chief Operating Officer of JLL APAC, Albert Ovidi, said, “JLL is proud to be the main sponsor of the first proptech hackathon in the region.  As a leader in real estate, we believe in being part of the larger tech ecosystem, supporting the start-up scene and learning from entrepreneurs and innovators.”

“igloohome believes that Hood Disrupt will help encourage innovation in the property sector. With strong support from our partners and sponsors, we’re excited to see new solutions developed from the event,” said CEO of igloohome, Anthony Chow.
